Flex PCB types

Single-Sided Flex PCB
One conductive layer for straightforward routing and compact interconnections.

Double-Sided Flex PCB
Two conductive layers for designs that need routing on both sides of the flexible substrate.

Multilayer Flex PCB
Multiple conductive layers for denser circuits. Stackup and bend requirements are reviewed together.
Flex PCB Manufacturing Capabilities
From rapid prototyping to high-volume mass production, LEADHUI supports a wide range of custom specifications to match your exact project needs:

Need a particular material or tight tolerance? Mark it in your drawing so it can be assessed with the complete stackup.
How will your flex circuit bend?
A circuit bent into position during assembly has different requirements from one that moves throughout its working life.

Share the board outline, bend locations, intended bend radius and installation orientation. Include a drawing of the circuit in its final position.
The bend radius should be reviewed against the complete construction, including copper and finished flex thickness.

Share the bend radius, angle or travel, target cycle count, movement frequency and operating temperature. Include a drawing showing the full range of motion.
Repeated bending needs a suitable stackup and a defined validation plan. A static bend specification does not establish dynamic service life.
Materials, stiffeners & connections

Choose the material for the application
Specify the base film, copper type and copper thickness where defined. Include operating temperature, current and bending conditions when requesting material options.
Reinforce the areas that need support
Identify stiffener locations at connector tails, component areas or mounting points. Show stiffener thickness separately from the flexible section and dimension the coverlay openings.
Match the connector interface
Provide the connector part number and mating drawing, including contact side, pitch, insertion length and required tail thickness. Identify the critical dimensions before fabrication.
Cost, MOQ & lead time
Price your actual design
Layer count, circuit size, materials, stiffeners, finish and order quantity shape the price. State whether you need bare boards or assembly, and include any testing or documentation requirements in your inquiry.
Plan the first build and the next
Send your prototype quantity and expected production volumes. Minimum order requirements are confirmed for the selected construction. Request price breaks for the quantities you are considering.
Quote against your target date
Include the required delivery date and destination. Production lead time depends on design approval, material availability, quantity and processing. Ask for manufacturing and shipping times separately.
Flex PCB FAQ
Can I request a quote before my design is complete?
You can start with an outline drawing, intended use and estimated quantity. Identify any undecided materials or dimensions. A manufacturing quotation requires enough detail to define the construction, processing and inspection scope.
What is the minimum order quantity for flex PCBs?
Minimum order requirements depend on the project. Send the quantity you need, including any prototype and repeat orders, so order feasibility and pricing can be assessed for your design.
How much does a flex PCB cost, and how long does it take?
There is no single price or production time for every flexible circuit. Send the fabrication files, quantity and target date for a project quotation. Call out special materials, stiffeners, assembly and testing, which can affect both cost and scheduling.
Can every flex PCB be used for repeated bending?
No. A bend-to-install design should not be assumed suitable for repeated motion. Dynamic applications need a construction and bend geometry appropriate to the intended movement, environment and target life. Define these conditions and the required validation before production.
What bend radius should I use?
The appropriate radius depends on the finished thickness, layer structure, copper and whether the bend is static or dynamic. Provide the required bend geometry with the stackup for review instead of selecting a radius from board thickness alone.
Can the flex tail be made to fit my connector?
Submit the connector part number and mating specification with the flex drawing. Specify contact orientation, pitch, insertion dimensions, tail thickness and tolerances. The connector interface and stiffener construction need to be reviewed together.
Can LEADHUI supply assembled flex PCBs?
Assembly can be supported following a review of the circuit structure, stiffener design, component placement and testing needs. Include a BOM, component placement file and assembly drawing with your inquiry, and state whether components will be customer supplied.
Is flex PCB with an FR4 stiffener the same as rigid-flex?
No. A stiffener adds mechanical support to a flexible circuit. Rigid-flex combines rigid circuit sections and flexible sections within one interconnected board structure. If your design needs both rigid circuitry and flexible interconnections, include that requirement in your inquiry.
